Complaint: Recently, while visiting our local Waffle House, my husband and I entered for, what seemed to be, a normal visit. While reviewing the menu, I saw that a Pecan Waffle cost $2.45 while a Pecan Waffle with 2 eggs (any style) cost $3.60. My husband ordered a Pecan Waffle and tea ($.99) while I ordered the Pecan Waffle with 2 eggs (any style) and a tea ($.99). I requested that the eggs were scrambled with cheese. While we were expecting our total to be $8.43 (the above items with 5% sales tax), our total bill was $10.47. When I looked at our bill below is what I found: Pecan Waffle $2.45 Pecan Waffle $2.45 Cheese Eggs Plate (eggs only) $3.10 2 teas $1.98 with 5% sales tax $10.47 After realizing this total was a little outrageous, I inquired to our waitress. She said that it was a Waffle House standard to charge for a plate, on specialty items, instead of charging for a side item. She could tell I was unhappy with this so she began to refigure. She refigured the bill as follows: Pecan Waffle $2.45 Pecan Waffle w/ 2 eggs $3.60 additional charge for pecans $0.45 add’l charge for side order/eggs$0.70 2 teas $1.98 with 5% sales tax $9.63 On our way home, my husband and I began to refigure the amount, as it still seemed a little too expensive considering no more food than we had. Our total should have been $8.43; TWO DOLLARS LESS THAN OUR ORIGINAL BILL. There should not have been an additional charge for the pecans or the side order of eggs, since the menu clearly says a Pecan Waffle and 2 eggs (any style) costs $3.60.
