Complaint: Horrible experience with Seabolts: Our son was here last week fishing. He took a few of the fish he caught to Seabolts, one for smoking, and the other two for filleting, packing and shipping frozen the following week to his home in LA. Seabolts’s money back guarantee is worthless and is false and misleading advertising. They charged us $79.00 and some change to process and ship the fish, purportedly frozen, to LA. They shipped 3 purportedly frozen filets and 4 pieces of smoked salmon overnight as promised Thursday and fish arrived mostly thawed Fiday morning. Our son reported that the box contained only one small ice pack. Not only does Seabolts deny any responsibility and told us to take it up with Federal Express, but Clarisse, the owner, phoned this morning and was actually abusive to my husband and hung up on us. We know food can be shipped frozen, as just this week we received a large order from Omaha steaks, and everything arrived in excellent condition, still frozen. But Omaha packed our box with sufficient ice to keep the food frozen and safe, not just with one small ice pack, like Seabolts did, to a city where it is no secret that temperatures are in the low 100’s. Seabolts packs the food. Federal Express delivered it exactly on schedule and our son opened the box when it arrived and saw the single melted ice pack and partially defrosted fish. AVOID Seabolts. Their money back guarantee is a lie, which calls their other services into question, IMHO.
