My experience with Cruise America was an expensive mistake. It started when we picked up the unit and was told we would have to have the unit unwinterized at in a warmer climate than rewinterized before we brought it back and CA would help find us a place to take it. We were told CA would reimburse us up to $75 dollars for expenses so I figured the winterizing would be covered. Stressful and unexpected but ok. We went on our road trip and was respectful of our unit following the rules even when we had to travel 90 miles out of our way to get the unit re winterized in Campbellville KY the only place around us that was open on Saturday. The CA customer service person that found the place was surprised we had to pay too and called the local office to verify. He was told too we had to do it or we would be charged $1000 for an insurance claim whether anything happened or not. We arrived home and cleaned out the unit of our stuff . We also found our basement had flooded which is not CA’s problem but ours and our attention was directed at that. Monday AM came and husband had a medical emergency and bled out all over our bathroom, adding to our stress. I got his bleeding stopped cleaned up after him, got our kids off to school than turned my attention to the RV to get it back. I cleaned windows floors and counters tables kitchen items as well as washed the outside, bugs off the bumper and the cab area any mud splatters (mind you it rained 5 of 7 days but forgot about the checklist. | On our way to the CA we stopped down the road to fill up as we did not want to be charged $5.50 a gal for gas . We filled until it clicked off . I started the engine and noticed it only filled to 7/8 so we tried to fill again and it clicked off again. We even tried using another pump but it would not fill anymore without clicking off., what could we do, we went on to the CA office . Upon returning the porter grabbed a checklist and proceeded out the door. At that time I remembered the list and looked to see if I covered everything. The porter came back and said we will be charged $250 because all was not done. After the stress of the day my anger began to rise and I asked what didn’t get done. He took me to the unit and said I could take the unit and finish cleaning better as I forgot to turn off the refrigerator, pin back some curtains brush off some crumbs off the table that I had wiped He claimed the bathroom floor was a mess which I do not believe to be true and claimed there was some detritus in the overhead . He also complained of mud on the stairs that I had washed like the whole floor on my hands and knees. I looked around and there was no way to even move the unit off the lot and we live 30 miles away so he wanted me to rack up another 60 miles to charge us for and I melted down. I said some bad words which I regret and have apologized for and told him I would pay the $250 cleaning fee and the manager said he was keeping the security deposit when there was NO damage to anything. He charged me an additional 305.41 from my bank. I was in such a state of aggravation I just signed and left. | I now regret signing as I thought he was going to take the 250 cleaning fee from the deposit but he just took the whole thing. I told the mng I would never rent from this company again and he snidely said I would never rent an rv again as he was going to put me on the black list. I have been ripped off and disrespected and want my money back. I contacted corporate and filed a complaint and spoke to my bank to also file a fraud complaint and plan on giving bad reviews to share the theft of my money and unfair business practices of this company if nothing is done. Bogus photos were sent as evidence. There were no cigarette butts in our unit and there was NO damage.
