Complaint: Internet dating has become quite popular, and I have just turned fifty. Ourtime.com, a subsidiary of peoplemedia.com, and owned by match.com, seemed like an appropriate website for me. I have never done this before, so I just signed up for one month. I have had internet services continue to take money out of my account before, so I asked if they would definitely cancel my service after one month. I was assured that they would only provide member services for the period of time that I had paid. I read on their FAQ site, this very same thing, ie: that member services would only be active for the period of time that the account had been paid. However, in the same paragraph, they completely contradicted themselves, stating that accounts that had been paid by credit card would have fees deducted monthly until cancellation. So I went to the account status area, clicked on more account statuses, and unsubscribed. This was approximately six months ago. In order to understand my complacent attitude, you must understand that ourtime, com had sent me dozens of notifications in my e-mail EVERY DAY. For the entire month that I was a legitimate subscriber, I received a dozen or more e-mails from ourtime on a daily basis. When I cancelled my subscription, the e-mails stopped completely—-overnight! So I believed that my cancellation had gone through. For the past six months, there has not been ONE e-mail from ourtime.com. Yet they have taken 25.00 a month from my account. I am disabled and widowed–I live from hand to mouth on a limited income! Ourtime DELIBERATELY stopped all notifications and services, while robbing my account every month.
