The “cattle call” we attended in Phoenix, AZ was “entertaining.” Now for the negatives, because they far outweighed the positives. 1) After a long period of time waiting for all of the other people to arrive, there was a lengthy video and lecture by the CEO. This was a children’s audition on a school night. The actual audition process started rather late due to the lecturing about manners and work ethics…not what we signed up for. 2) The CEO had the nerve to say that he can tell which kids are from dysfunctional families when he first meets kids…just by looking at their faces. He essentially expressed that the company weeds out kids from dysfunctional families. 3) The CEO had the further audacity to say that talented kids cannot make it in the industry if they don’t believe in god…and, in so many words, that the company would not work with people who aren’t believers. 4) He was insulting to people who did not sit still and show respect towards him during the presentation. Mind you, the majority of the adults were being respectful and listening. Also, most of the older kids were too. The younger kids, however, found it difficult to sit still and not make noise…which should be expected when dealing with younger kids. And it sure didn’t help that this event went on and on and on before the audition part even took place. 5) The CEO was dynamic and vibrant, and certainly entertaining, but he was full of himself and condescending. In summary: STAY AWAY from this company!
