Macaroni Grill, Colorado Springs, CO

Complaint: Macaroni Grill has great food and if the service my group received that night were horrible, I would have been reporting them to the Better Business Bureau in a heart beat. Nevertheless, their tipping practice is a fraud and should be a shame to all restaurants who practice such a thing. My party of 12 went to Macaroni Grill one busy evening and we were all enjoying our meals, our waitress was kind and ready for us. When it was time to receive our bill – they tacked on the 8% gratuity charge (no problem because the food was okay and service was great). Some of us took out our phones for our tipping calculator for we were impressed with our service that we were going to add on extra to the already charged 8%… we found out that they already did add the extra on themselves by lying that they charged 8% but in reality they actually charged each separate check 12% instead. Well to bring this story short, we decided to exclude the extra we were going to give since they already did it themselves. What complete frauds though. It is illegal to tack on hidden charges and disguise them with a picture of 8% when it is not. I hope they see this post and fix their practice ASAP!
