Complaint: Companies beware: I signed up on HomeAdvisor. Part of my initial fee was $288 for a year membership to Homeadvisor directories (mandatory). After a few months of worthless leads (more on that in a moment), I turned off the leads, not understanding that my ‘year long subscription’ was also turned off. Now, they are attempting to extort another $288 out of me … even through only a month and a half of the directory service was used. Back to the worthless leads: when a lead came through, I needed to call a toll free number with a sequential extension to reach the homeowner. The extension didn’t work (would not let me through to the homeowner) … when I attempted to get my money back on the lead, they told me they didn’t do that …
