Complaint: I contracted with Freedompop as my internet provider in February. i was charged about $100 for a wifi modem to be sent out. I selected the option with the highest data usage. The modem arrived a bit sooner than i had expected. That was the only positive part of my experience. The modem had next to no instructions, and I am a grandmother, not a techie. Calling tech support or trying to email them is worthless. So I muddled through. I did end up with every discarded device-printer, phone, so forth- connected to the wi-fi, and had to remove them. But got ‘er done. All this is using data. You are supposed to check your data. They do not tell you how to do so, however. They also say that they will email you when you get near your data limit. About ten days or so into this, i got repeated emails and charges to my credit card, all in the span of several hours. Then it shut down. Now they actually answered my phone call, surprise surprise! Internet shut off until next billing cycle. Obviously I did not want to do business with these people, they kept saying I should have been watching my data but still could not tell me how. I sent the modem back. It was credited to my card a month and a half later. THey also charged me $87.56. I do not know what this charge is for. $89.00 credit for the modem, and a mystery charge, They answer the phone, but kept me on hold for an hour. Then the automated system took my name and number and email and said someone would get back to me in 24 hours. What do you think the chances are?
