I ordered the Dellinger Electric Bike Kit from Dellinger after much research on electric bike kits. Dellingers prices are very high, but I contacted the company and was assured I could buy wheel motor replacement gears. This is important because plastic gears wear fast, and if you can’t replace them, your motor is junk. I installed the kit and rode about 10 miles when the gears became especially loud. I contacted Dellinger and was assured this was normal. I questioned this, but accepted it. By the end of he year I had 200 miles on it and the gear noise was worse. When the bike reached 337 miles the following year, the clutch began to fail and the gears were to the point that the bike is unreliable. I emailed Dellinger again and asked about my guarantee, and about spare parts. “Jacob” promptly replied and asked for a vidio of the wheel making its noises, which I provided. That wasn’t enough. He wanted another one. When he got that, he made me jump through more loops, trying to wear me down. When that didn’t work, he told me my kit was one month beyond its guarantee. I asked about spare parts. It turns out there are no spare parts available. He offered to sell me a new motor for$300. I can buy an equivalent motor including the wheel for $150 on EBay. I I’m not the only one this is happening to. I have my emails proving what I’m alleging. My goal is to make them sell replacement parts, or to state on their website that they don’t. I’m up for a class action lawsuit. I suspect this is common in the emerging electric bike business.
