Complaint: I bought a Dell laptop that retails for $899.00. This is not a cheap laptop. I bought this laptop because I wanted one to last so I don’t have to keep transferring my stuff. Two months after purchasing this laptop, I woke up one day, went to turn it on and it was dead. I contacted Tech support. They are all over seas and very difficult to communicate with because of the language barrier. After spending many frustrating hours on the phone they determined that the mother board needs to be replaced, however they said that since I did not complete a second on line registration when I bought my laptop that I would not be covered under warrenty. So to be clear…this is an item that is covered under warrenty, the laptop is defective by the manufaturer however they found a way out of their obligation. As a consumer when I open my new laptop and it says click on the link to register and i do that I assume that I have registered unless I am told otherwise. They said that I should have gone to the dell website and taken a seperate step. They said that they are able to see when my laptop was used for the first time however they just don’t care and when you are only able to talk to overseas reps. that do not have the authority to do anything other than read off what it says on their screen you can’t get anywhere. I’m out almost $1000 and had this laptop for only 2 months. I am going to continue to do everything that I can to make sure that as many people know what they get with a dell purchase.
