Complaint: Dell states their XPS model computers are top of the line. I purchased 2 XPS dell computers. a m1530US that broke down in 2 years and I bought another dell XPS L502X. Both computers exceeded $1,550 us dollars each. Both were broke down within 2 years with mutip;e problems. I replaced the first one immediately as I needed the computer so I just bought another XPS only to have it break down within the first couple days. after several trips to fix the issue it was fine for 2 years. then the hard drive had to be replaced and I lost the partition with the factory image which dell promissed me that I would still have. I didnt get the factory image withch reduces the tools a user has availible to him/her. Since dell advertizes this as a big benefit, it should not be taken away under any warranty work or they should replace the computer as the user is at the mercy of the manufacturer if he/she is not an expert with computers. additionaly they could never get the restore points to work again taking away more tools. the graphics card went bad more than once, the computer doesn not come out of sleep mode. it freezez all the time and you have to hard shut down to get controll again. the screen freezes in black and again hard shut down. and more loss of work. IE, Chrome firefox, all online items freeze and again hard shutdown to get going again. If the computer becomes unplugged its suppose to save and sleep before running out of power. once i plug it back in and turn it on it just stays black blank screen and never starts up, again hard shut down. Tech support refuses to provide me with a refund or another computeerr as I offered a settlement rather than sue them under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act which would allow me 3 times peanalty as my costs exceeded $2,000. and you get attorney fees for the action. My total claims against Dell exceeds $14,000 and they refuse to get me a computer that will just work and not break down. the lastest Dell XPS is unstable and unusable as it freezes all the time, switches pages for no reason, graphics card goes to windows basic 7 and this is again over $1500 and an XPS. A top of the line computer shouldnt be breaking down like these are. its not misuse by the user. both computers still look almost new! They were well taken care of but still failed. Dell Support is less interested in solving your problem rather they want to try and get it running just long enough for the warranty to run out. I have them on a recording stating that the computers are not intended to last more than 3 to 4 years and that sis why they will not offer a warrantee beyond 3 years, if you push you can get 4 years and that is what I did. after 2 years they nearly rebuiilt the entire computer trying to repair it. The comment they gave me was that I have a neearly new computer aside from the monitor. A little over a year later all these problems came about and that is why I felt like I needed to purchase the extended warrantee at more cost. They dont know whats wrong with it but it has multiple problems and aknowledge its bad history but refuse to replace or refund under the so called lemon law. But they were correct about one thing. After 3 years my new XPS failed and thats why they dont want to warranty them beyond that point. They charge too much money for these XPS machines when they only work for a couple years. When selling them new to a customer they claim many years of reliable service as you are buying the top of the line and only the best goes into the product. this is again a lie as the computer doesnt last that long and they refuse to stand behind their words. I’m tired of arguing with some a** in india as they wont let you talk with somone from the US. I will be suing them in court, filing suit on monday for losses in exess of $14,000. Do not buy Dell products as thy do not stand behind them and they over exagerate the life of the product the stability and the quality as it is suppose to give years of problem free use. The computers are a disaster in a box. They like to use words like escalate to make you feel like somone is doing something to help you but it just comes down to dragging you along and wearing you down so you finally do it their way. If these computers were cars, they would be coverecd under the auto lemon law. The people in india have no idea about our legal system and their responsability to the customer and are even in denial per the tape recording where they dot believe they have to follow or the law doesnt apply to them. We will see just how the judge feels about the recordings and how dell tech support feels they are not obligated to follow US laws established to protect consumers. 90+% of people just let it go and purchase another computer somewhere else and dont do anything about the losses they suffered. People need to stop being walked all over and then just going away. There are laws out there and you dont have to be an attorney to stand up for your rights. As for me I dont settle after I have filed a course of action in court! I have never lost in court and we will see just what the courts have to say about this case becasuse it is getting filed and I hope to make dell feel the way they make their customers feel (powerless). If I happen to draw the right judge then I know he will hammer Dell to the fullest extent of the law! Stay away from DELL!
