I have stayed at several apartments over the last several years due to travel nature of my job. I will have to rate my experience with Cypress lake apartment as the worst experience. Maybe they are nicer to certain people or not, I don’t know but my personal experience has been very bad with them. I am originally from India and I spoke to few of my friends who agreed they had a similar experience as well. I stopped going to the front office unless it was absolutely necessary and I was waiting to get out of this place as soon as my lease ended. | When the time came for lease renewal, I did not renew my lease and called the front office for several days in a row to speak to a manager to inform about my intention to cancel my lease. They said this can be done online and I mentioned that I was unable to login to the portal and I was out of town for my job and wanted to know my options. | Every time I spoke to their front office they got my mobile number and apartment number and said the manager will return my call and they have made a note of my situation. I received no call from the manager and went to the front office to speak to the manager after a week she was busy with someone else and I was informed that I could either wait or can leave my number for her to call me. I did not want to leave and waited for 30 minutes before I could speak with her. | Finally, when I spoke with the manager, I explained my frustration about not getting a callback or being able to meet with her the previous week and she acted surprised and apologetic at first. On 02/08/2017, I told my intention to leave the apartment and that I did not want to extend my lease which expired on 02/26/17, she said per contract I have to give 60 days’ notice or I will have to pay the penalty on top of my security deposit. Note that I have paid one month rent as security deposit She said this is the contract, I said ok, that is fine and I asked her for the move out date. | She did the calculation and mentioned a date in the weekday and then she said they usually do move outs on Sunday, so she adjusted my move out date to be 04/02/17 which was 6 days prior to my 60-day notice . I asked her about this and she said they will be able to market the apartment due to high demand and said it was OK. Notice that this is a date that the manager gave me and I did not have an issue with staying another week if I had to but she said the preferred move out date is Sunday. I walked home happily thinking at least she was able to give me a week adjusted and thought the manager is a really nice person. | Now 30 days later, I have my security deposit transmittal form finally. They have deducted 165$ for the painting walls, 85$ for the carpet, 85$ for kitchen resurface, 25$ for oven cleaning and 307$ for INSUFFICIENT NOTICE for 6 days. Out of 1336$ deposit I made, I as returned 531$ after all deductions. I stayed in the apartment for 1 year and 1 month, I can understand the carpet cleaning and oven cleaning but Paint bill and Kitchen resurface fee seem very unfair and feels like a scam I have never seen this charged at any of my previous rentals before. ON TOP OF this, they did not honor the move out the date that was adjusted by their own manager. I spoke to the front office today and was informed that the manager was not working today. I feel like I have been taken advantage of my one-month security deposit situation. I am writing this to caution others about this scammy nature of this business place and beware putting your hard earned money as security deposit to these guys.
