| I purchased the ChefTec software several years ago. It is good software….just a horrible company with the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I initially paid ~$1500 for the sofware and used it for a year or so without issue. The hard drive on the computer it was on crashed and we had to get a new computer. I called the company and asked if the version of the software I had was comnpatible with windows 8 and was told multiple times it was. Based on that information I went out and purchsed two new computers with Windows 8 and when I tried to intsaall the software it did not work. When I called the company I was told that it “should” work and it must be my computer and I would have to either buy a service plan for ~$400 or upgrade to the new software for ~$495 which includes a service plan. I chose tha latter. I used the software without issue for about a year until recently when my computer crahsed and had to be rebooted which wiped out all 3rd party software. I put in my intall disk and it will not install, on the same computer is was installed on before. I called in and I am told the same thing pay for a service plan or upgrade. I feel like I am being held hostage, I have $2k into the software and cannot use it now. The sales reps are some of the rudest I have ever encountered, I would put them in the same boat as bill collectors. There is no diaologue, just them repeating the upsell to the servie plan or new software….I am neyond words. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and will be looking into legal action. Something needs to be done about this.
