Chicago Basketball Academy Review

Damond Williams, former professional basketball player opens private school in Chicago with basketball focus. He was be supported by Bill Cartwright, former NBA player, but backed out even before school started. Damond promised my son exceptional education along with opportunities to have a future in the basketball industry. On day one of the school commencing we all came to find out that it was not prepared at al to educate anyone. A volunteer coach reached out and Informed us that there are no teachers. Damond and his girlfriend, who have no educational background, were reading mission goals to them all day. When confronted on this matter, we were given vague responses and more empty promises. Since withdrawing my from the school Damond has been ignoring and avoiding all means of communication. He has refused to refund us our money and he continues to post things in social media that are false such as students enjoying their day and what things they are learning. | There were a total of 6 kids enrolled and all kids dropped out of the school within the first week. Of the 6 only two were actually freshman, one of which was my son. There was no curriculum, books, syllabus, etc or any form of proof that kids would be receiving any sort of education. My 14 year old was left alone with strangers who Damond called “teachers” that later admitted to the kids that they were college students just volunteering their time. He also had international students come and pay for dorms and food, which were not given to them. Damond asked us to host one of his students because the dorms were not “ready” and now this you he man, who also dropped out is struggling finding a way to return to Croatia. He is also being ignored by Damond. My son had to re-enroll into our district high school and started a month later than his peers. Damond destroyed his first high school experience and has emotionally damaged him for life.
