Complaint: Selling my iMac on Craigslist – received text from a guy who wanted to buy the computer for his daughter in school in Michigen, whose computer just broke and really needs a new one. Offered to pay $200 for shipping and to pay through PayPal – me, being an idiot, was like this sounds great! He asked me for my email and full Pay Pal name – my alarms went off a little, so asked him for his email instead so I could send him a payment request. He follows through and I send off the request and go to prepare the FedEx shipper to send computer. He let’s me know he put in the info in PayPal and PayPal will authorize the transfer once they get the trackin number. FedEx shipper asks if package is going to a residential address – so I ask him (via text) and then just google the address to see if it’s residential or not. Well THANK GOD for this site because a report for the same shipping address came up in my search, saying the same thing happened to them and the guy never sent payment and the address is actually a warehouse for overseas shipping. AWESOME. So I just texted the purchesor back letting him know I found the report, thanking him for teaching me a valuable lesson, and that I would be canceling the request for paymet. I made the mistake of thinking PayPal meant I was covered from fraud like this – I was hella wrong and almost made a HUGE mistake! THANKS FOR POSTING REPORTS!!! It’s really important!!!!!!
