I had been emailing with Brian Blank about a boat to charter. | He had sent me an email with a contract at the end of the week requesting a check by the following Monday. | In other words, he only gave me the weekend to get a check to him. (It’s 2016, and he doesn’t take credit cards?) | Not really fair, but whatever. | So I had written him an email back asking how he’d like me to get him the check since he wanted it ASAP. I never heard back from him. | So I filled out the online contact. | Still didn’t hear back. But since we had an email exchange where he told me that the boat was mine for charter, I figured all was fine. | I have no problem FedExing a check to him but I needed the info on how he wanted me to get it to him and that I should proceed with that process. | He told me that he doesn’t check email since he’s “out in the boatyard all the time”. | But he also said, that I should have checked my email sooner because he had apparently emailed me Thursday night for a check that he wanted on Monday. | I finally got an email back from him on Tuesday saying that the boat was no longer available. There was no warning that it was going to someone else. It sounds to me like he had already planned to give the boat to this person and that he had set up this deal with me to fail. | When I finally got in touch with Brian on the phone he was not apologetic at all. Instead he insisted that I was in the wrong for trying to get in touch with him via email. | He then offered me a boat at DOUBLE the cost of the boat that I had reserved… Bait and switch much? Shady deal. Shady guy. (Google his photo… you’ll see what I mean.) | Don’t do business with Brian “Blank” because a big “Blank” is what you’ll be left to sail with.
