We purchased a timeshare in Aruba in 2015 from the Occidental vacation club. Just found out their resorts were sold to a company called Barcelo. We were never notified of this. I called the Occidental to get info on our contract, they said they no longer have a sales office and no longer keep records at their resort. Fair enough but I asked for the new number to contact for questions regarding my contract. I was told they cannot give out that information. After lots of arguing, the manager agreed to put in a request to get a copy of our contract. I was told it would take up to 3 weeks and he was unable to give me the number to the office that handled contracts. After 3 weeks I called again. I was told that my request for a copy of the contract could now take up to 6 weeks. It has been 3 months and the only thing i have received is my bill for maintenance fees. From talking to other owners, I know that there have been changes at the resort and an increase in week rates, however we were never notified of anything, no new management, no changes, no anything! What we bought is not what we have. Again, they are quick to get the maintenance fee bill out to people, but thats it. If anyone has any advice on how to exit this contract, please let em know. Thanks and if you are smart, do not buy into this company. Shady.
